IntelliJ IDEA 8 Roadmap

with 4 comments

Via Talios, the IntelliJ 8 roadmap has been refined a little, notable inclusions are:

  • Scala (finally!)
  • Python
  • git???

I’d be nice to see a preview drop of the Scala plugin, it currently doesn’t build from source.

  1. I would do horrible, horrible things if asked, to get a scala plugin, which had the stub generation/joint compiler support that they did for groovy.

    Unspeakable things.

  2. From the release notes:
“Scala support is in development as a separate plugin which is planned to be completed after the release date of IDEA 8, and is not going to be bundled.”
Hopefully it doesn’t follow too far behind…

  3. You can find Scala plugin at http://plugins.intellij.net/plugin/?id=1347
    It works with Diana EAP

  4. @Tom Thanks, I just saw this last night, seems to be pretty broken though, does syntax highlighting and some error checking, but simple stuff shows up as being valid. IDEA crashed on me when I tried to run a class also… It’s worth having just the syntax highlighting and class detection (showing in the project tree), and to not have to use Eclipse… :)
