Yes, we can
For some reason, I have an unusual (for an Australian) interest in American politics. When I lived in the US I witnessed the farce that was the last presidential election (swift boats anyone?), but based on the reporting we’re seeing here, have higher hopes for this upcoming race.
I’ve been sitting on the fence with relation to the Democratic candidates, but Obama comes out again and again and impresses me. Dave has just posted this video - I’m assuming it’s from the Obama campaign - of celebrities and musicians paraphrasing one of Obama’s speeches. Not that having these people lends any real credibility to him, but the video is nevertheless powerful.
I remember the swift boat veteran debacle - it was the Tampa of that election, although looking at the ‘osama obama’ references and misleading statements vs his voting record in the current campaign, the US media seems institutionally unable to call out politicians when they don’t tell the truth.
One would think that there would be more US analogues to Kerry O’Brian than the Chaser’s counterparts Stewart and Colbert.

Yeah there was a survey that said that nearly 90% of people in America didn’t care or didn’t like it went celebrities got on board behind a candidate - so I’m not sure it’s all good - I certainly think it’s a bit over the top. But even the cocaine taking seems not to have negative and possibly even a positive thing - at least more believable than not inhaling.
Certainly tugs at the patriotic heart strings.
